The SEC IT students & faculty attended the 10th Caraga IT congress 2018 at Ampayon, Butuan City last Marc 9, 2018. The congress was attended by 1,296 students and 88 faculty all over the Caraga Region. the SEC students joined the Programming contest and Fast typing contest.

March 01, 2018 sets the date of the Recognition Exercises of the Technical-Vocational Programs offered by TESDA in SEC as one of their Assessment Centre – spearheaded by Annie A. Abucejo as the TVET Coordinator. It was fruitfully celebrated with the presence of OIC-PD Allan Millan of TESDA-Surigao del Norte as their recognition speaker. The whole program was overwhelmed by the presence of the school administrators headed by Dr. Danilo L. Daniel, SEC Chancellor, with Rosanna S. Bautista the Vice President for Administration, Engr. Bernadette P. Ensomo the Vice President for Academics and Gideon Kent Gil the HR Manager.
A one day celebration of IT department conducted last February 21, 2018. HTML Webpage programming was attended by the Grade 8 & 9 students of SEC High School department. Another programming seminar was attended by Grade 10 & 11 with the Game Development Programming. With Mark Rene Hermina as the Resource Speaker of the seminar.

The SEC High School Alumni Association conducted a 3rd Bloodletting Activity in coordination with the Caraga Regional Hospital and the Host Batch 2001-2001 last Feb. 5, 2018, 9:00 to 5:00 PM @ Building 5, SEC campus
ParkWay Mall Surigao organized the 1st Interschool HipHop Dance Showdown wherein the SEC Karadjawan Performing Arts Guild (KPAG) emerged as Champion, last November 11, 2017 in the mall’s lobby. It was participated by dancers from high school and college.
“For us in SEC we are confident of our talents. We just needed to secure the 40% from the vote coupons. The Supreme Student Council and KPAG officers campaigned to the students and employees to purchase in ParkWay Mall to accumulate more votes. Our winning was a collaborative effort of everyone in the SECian community.” Mr. Randy L. Retulla, Dean for Student Affairs and Services said. The determination of winners was based on the actual performance (60%) and customers’ votes (40%).
The SECian representative Randy L. Retulla bagged a medal and plaque for winning 1st Place in Copyreading and Headline Writing and 1st Place in Poetry Out Loud Competition during the 4th Extramural: Training the Trainers and Campus Journalists, and 2nd Poetry Out Loud Competition in Venus Parkview Hotel, Baguio City on April 27-29, 2017 with the theme “Getting Into the Stride of Responsible and Innovative Writing”.
The national event aimed to provide an intensive training for media and journalism or communication trainers and students as well as for the campus press or members of the publications, specifically, it trained the participants on the craft of writing stories, and it engaged them in the field of spoken poetry. It was organized by the School Press Adviser’s Movement Incorporated (SPAM Inc.) in coordination with the Commission on Higher Education and the Department of Education
Mr. Retulla is currently the Dean for Student Affairs and Services. He was an Editor in Chief of a college publication and the 13th Mindanao-Sulu Pastoral Conference daily newsletters, and adviser of SEC Debate League (SEC DL).
