The Cagayan de Oro Hotel and Restaurant Association (COHARA) hosted KUMBIRA 2009 with the theme:"ENHANCING ASIAN CULINARY TRADITIONS"last August 13-15,2009.KUMBIRA 2009 is a culinary festival featuring various food and beverage competitions, cooking demonstrations by experts in the food industry, and trade exhibits on Hotel and Restaurant Equipment, Supplies and Services.   It aims to promote healthy competition and camaraderie among the different hotels and restaurants, hotel and restaurant schools as well as, elevating the standards of the culinary industry in the region.  The event also features the various skills, artistry and creativeness of the food and beverage practitioners and students through competitions.On its  13th year, COHARA’s KUMBIRA held the MINDANAO CHEF WARS,  a regional competition for professional and student teams to represent Mindanao in the CHEF WARS NATIONAL COMPETITION during the “FOOD SHOWDOWN 2009” in Manila on September 4-5, 2009.  Food Showdown 2009 is a production of ABS-CBS Broadcasting Corp. subsidiaries - TV Food Chefs,  Foodie and FOOD Magazines.

 

  

   

 

Selected SEC-HRM students namely Jovenson Mutia,Wea Princess Morales, Rolly Ensinada, Jay-r Sandigan ,Jhonamil Tare, Rodrigo Escabal were accompanied by their coaches, Mr, Jovan Elajas and Ms. Lilibeth Ramos for the said competition. The students performed spledid fruit and vegetable carvings and beautiful flower arrangements.The team won Bronze for the  Classical Filipino Dessert Category.
